Great to see a fresh take on the zombie genre. Fido is a comedy/horror about a world where people use zombies as personal slaves, but something goes wrong, and all hell breaks loose! I love the interaction between the the boy and his pet zombie. Not much else to say here, just watch the trailer!

So pucker up to have your lips bit off by my latest zombie. I am submitting him to the KISSYBOOK Project, and hopefully one day he will get some action. I may tinker a little more with the colors, but this is more or less finished.

[in reference to previous post]
Won’t it be great when we’re all dead
and zombieing around?
Everything will be like Prom
except with eating people instead of gowns
and maybe shotguns and survivors
instead of corsages.
And of course all that awkward guilt
about my dancing abilities will be
turned into gnawing hunger
instead of gnawing shame.
The qualities unburdened by any clear
critical stance make me blur
with distinction. Healthy trumpets
wake the dead again. I’m cloying.

Thanks Kevin!

In extreme contrast to his normally bright and cheerful illustrations, Mike Gorman created Mordicai Sulk, an alter ego that paints ghouls and monsters. These are wildly cool, but the most interesting aspect of this is the contrast between the two sides Gorman’s imagination. Maybe this is his way of exorcising his inner demons? Regardless, go compare the Gorman and the Sulk portfolios. Good or evil, it is all great art.

Maybe I should have included something about Valentine’s Day in there somewhere. I didn’t really put much thought or time into this. It was just an excuse to draw a zombie.

Carbon Media Design Studio in Calgary has held a Zombie Valentine Exhibit last week! This is a submission by Kipling West from the 7 Deadly Sinners blog. This is a fantastic idea, and I think I may have to do one just for fun. Sadly, it has been nearly a week and they haven’t posted any pictures from the show. I simply could not wait to post about this, so I’ll keep checking back for more of these.

Jason McDonald has made one of the funniest comics on the web. My Living Dead Girl is about Courtney, the little zombie girl. The story places Courtney in everyday situations and we get to see how a zombie might react to these situations. Maybe it is because I can make them disappear with a click, but web comics often disappoint me. But My Living Dead Girl cracks me up with it’s excellent art, humor and it’s great catch phrase. GAK!

This newest gem from Dead Workers Party is this commercial for Zonk Brain Drink. It is an artificially flavored brain juice for the undead! Watch as a little girl avoids her demise by offering this fruity/brainy beverage to a group of bloodthirsty zombies. This leads to what has to be the first zombie pool party in history. I love the jingle lyrics and the the flavor names. I’ll have the Medulla Oblongata Kumquata!

In Northern California, ranchers have been turning hens too old to lay eggs into compost through the grizzly act of suffocating them in a box of CO2… Roughly a half-million a year.
However, some unfortunate chickens are buried only half dead. Once they regain consciousness, they dig their way out of the mass grave and have earned the name “zombie chickens”. This is clearly animal rights issue that needs to be dealt with. It has also given me the opportunity to (respectfully) make my own zombie chicken. Click here for a larger view.

When Halloween rolls around, I start thinking about what horror movie I want to watch. Anyone who has been to this site a few times knows there is a special place in my heart for the undead. While shopping around for a good flick, I came across retroCRUSH’s top 20 zombie movies! I was simultaneously joyous over my discovery, and shamed to see that I have barely seen half of these. I apparently have some work to do. Enjoy the list!
