As the average age of the comic book reader has raised, the quality of the craft has as well.  The caliber of artists that are working in comics right now is stronger than it has ever been.  IGN has produced a top 50 list of the past year’s covers for Marvel and DC.  The Marvel Zombies cover was #1 for Marvel and I have to agree.  Arthur Suydam was incredible on every cover for that series.  Each was an undead version of a classic cover and to me, this was the best.  The DC list however is incorrect.  The top two slots were based more on DCU significance rather than artistic value.  I lost count of how many covers James Jean had on this list, but he should have the #1 cover.  Jean is the best cover artist because he does more than paint a pretty picture and plaster on the text and info.  He plans the entire cover from a designers perspective.

A few days ago, a very large group of people dressed as zombies roamed the streets of downtown San Francisco! I know this is going to permeate to every corner of the blogosphere… but I love zombies, dammit.

This is about a year old, but i have never seen it. It’s pretty good… Think Airheads meets Night of the Living Dead. Three guys stuck in a car during a zombie outbreak with humor and gore. The official website offers a trailer download, but you can watch the whole thing on Google Video.

As a zombie lover (non-sexual), I was thrilled to find this short film about a kid in detention during a zombie outbreak. The film is now available for download so check it out. Pretty large though, almost 70Mb. Very nice, very creepy.

I love zombies. A friend of mine brought up the idea that people love zombies because when taking out a zombie, one feels the primal satisfaction of killing of another human without the guilt of destroying a soul. He may have a point there.
