With the release of Brawl just around the corner, we decided to throw together a fantasy list of characters we would love to be included as playable characters! We decided to narrow our list to original video game characters only, so don’t expect Darth Vader or Spider-man here. Also, we aren’t very interested with legal mumbo jumbo, so don’t expect any of that either. Just take a moment and enjoy!

10. Ninja Gaiden’s Ryu

Ninja Gaiden for the NES was the first game that ever made me feel like a ninja. When I think video game ninja… I think Ryu. (Note: Rodney pushed for Shinobi, but I pulled the It’s my blog card.)

Possible Final Smash: Ninja Berzerker Rage.

9. Arthur

Similar to Samus, Arthur could start out in full armor and end up in his heart print undies. Plus, he’s already equipped with a double jump.

Possible Final Smash: Summoning some ghouls and hmmm… let’s see… some ghosts!

8. Lara Croft

It never hurts to get more ladies in the mix and the natural choice would be Croft. Really a no-brainer.

Possible Final Smash: Activating some wild series of deadly booby traps. Heh.

7. Bomberman

Bombs, dude.

6. Rygar

I don’t mean the revamped anime-lookin version with the goofy hairdo. I mean the generic, effeminate 80s version with the goofy hairdo. Fact is… his disk armor (yoyo of doom) is freaking awesome.

Possible Final Smash: Disk Armor Tornado?

5. Earthworm Jim

Do I really need to explain this? Earthworm Jim is the Bruce Campbell of video games.

Possible Final Smash: Cows!

4. Bionic Commando

He could swing all over the stage and fling people into oblivion with his grapple arm! Shoot ‘em too. We’d have to let the poor guy jump though. (Note: I am aware of the new Bionic Commando game, but I just love the original.)

Possible Final Smash: Robots? I dunno.

3. Megaman

He’s a video game icon, and on everyone’s wish list. It would be extra sweet if he could acquire power-ups based on his victories too! (Ultimate weakness: Spikes.)

Possible Final Smash: Rabid Rush

2. Simon Belmonte

He took down Dracula. The guy would make Snake wet his pants.

Possible Final Smash: Medusa heads!

1. Battletoads

I can’t imagine a more suitable choice. Rash, Zitz and Pimple were head-butting, punching and booting enemies off-screen back in 1991.
